Conterno Fantino Great wines from Piedmont. In 1982, Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino founded their farm Conterno Fantino among the Monforte d'Alba hills. Today they grow 27 hectares of land, in which we can find four important vines: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Chardonnay. The annual production is settled on the 140 thousand bottles per year. Today, the two founders have been joined by sons and grandsons who will carry on the family traditions: Alda, Fabio, Elisa Fantino and Noemi and Matteo Conterno. Within the company, which believes in the clan as a tool for optimizing employment, a dozen employees have found a stable and full-time employment. Over the years, the respect for nature and the environment have led the company to adopt measures aimed at corporate sustainability, such as guidelines in the management of vineyards that are grown entirely in organic farming, and, in 2008 the building of a geothermal plant, the installation of solar panels and the Phyto-purification of waste water. The Conterno Fantino winery interprets its wines under its identity banner above all: from the careful manual selection of the grapes to the collection in boxes; from the maintaining of the vineyard aromas to the spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts; from the careful use of wood for refinement to the minimum use of sulphites until the aging in bottles. The wines of the Conterno Fantino winery have a precise identity that we can find at every stage of their production: from the manual and accurate selection of grapes that are collected in wooden boxes to the spontaneous fermentations obtained with the use of yeasts of their territory, up to the use of special woods for aging in barrels and the minimum use of sulphites to obtain a fine and natural wine.
